Homes England’s new 'Delivering quality: local centres' guidance
Good to see Homes England’s new 'Delivering quality: local centres' guidance putting well-designed, mixed-use hubs firmly at the centre of successful communities. We welcome the clear, practical guidance to the industry that focuses on delivering places that work from day one.
The new guidance reflects our own emphasis on walkability, everyday amenities and long-term stewardship - so its nice to see that PTE's Jubilee Square at Marleigh Park (for Hill Group and Marshall Group) is included as a case study. Our masterplan brings together homes, shops, a school, workplaces and green space to support a genuinely local centre - part of a new 1,300-home urban village on the edge of Cambridge.
PTE's partner of new settlements, Alexis Butterfield said: 'At Marleigh we recognised the challenge of building on the edge of settlement - and created a network of routes, spaces and destinations to get people out of their cars and bring them together. The outcome has been a well used local centre, and a community that is putting down roots fast.'
