Cohousing: Building the Neighbourhoods We Need
Housing, Planning and Community in the Capital
A Conversation on Housing, Community and the Future of Cohousing in London and beyond - Thursday 1 October 2026 - 6-9pm
Join UK Cohousing Network, Pollard Thomas Edwards and Charles Durrett for an evening exploring the role cohousing can play in tackling London's housing challenges and creating more connected, resilient neighbourhoods.
Bringing together housing professionals, policymakers, architects, local authorities, community leaders and residents, the event will examine how cohousing can help address some of the UK's most pressing housing and social challenges, from affordability and loneliness to ageing well and community resilience.
Drawing on more than four decades of experience, Charles Durrett will share lessons from hundreds of communities around the world and reflect on what it will take to create the next generation of successful cohousing neighbourhoods across the UK. He will be joined by local speakers and practitioners to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing London and the wider South East.
The evening will include audience questions, informal networking, refreshments and opportunities to meet Charles and have books signed.
Whether you are developing a scheme, shaping housing policy, designing communities or simply curious about cohousing, this event offers a chance to connect with others interested in creating more sociable and sustainable neighbourhoods.
